If some pieces brown before others in your air fryer, do not simply extend the time. First check the size of the pieces, the quantity in each batch and the way food sits in the basket. A consistent preparation routine and a brief record make it easier to identify a useful change. A preset alone cannot compensate for every difference in ingredients and loading.
Before switching on: prepare comparable pieces
For a batch of potatoes, for example, keep the cuts as similar in thickness as practical. Avoid mixing very thin pieces with much thicker chunks in the same test. Record whether the ingredients start fresh or frozen, together with the quantity and preparation method. If your recipe calls for drying the surface or adding oil, follow its method and amount. The words air fryer do not replace the preparation instructions for each food.
The SAF-1880S air fryer lists an 8-litre nominal capacity, 12 programs, an 80–200°C range, touch controls, a non-stick coating and a viewing window with an internal light. These describe the appliance features. They do not establish a fixed food weight, serving count or one cooking time for every ingredient.

Check the basket layout before choosing a program
Avoid packing food into one compressed pile. Match the layout to the food instructions and the space required for airflow. If your intended quantity forms a crowded stack, try dividing it into smaller batches. Where a recipe requires a single layer, the basket nominal volume is not a substitute for the usable area.
Do not add paper, a mould or another container merely to simplify cleaning. Use only accessories and methods permitted for the model that do not obstruct airflow. Before starting, check that the drawer is seated correctly, the ventilation path is clear and there is room to remove the basket safely.
A checklist for reviewing one batch
What you notice | Factor to check | What to control next time |
|---|---|---|
Small pieces brown first | Different thickness and size | Compare pieces with similar cuts |
Overlapping areas cook differently | Quantity and layout | Test a smaller quantity with more open spacing |
The result changes each time | Fresh or frozen starting state and quantity | Record ingredient type, weight and initial condition |
The surface is browned but the result is incomplete | Recipe suitability and cooking conditions | Check readiness by the appropriate method for that food |
A preset did not give the intended result | Recipe, layout and selected setting | Change one factor at a time and record the outcome |
When to check or reposition the food
If the recipe or appliance instructions call for turning, shaking or repositioning, follow the approved stopping and access procedure. The basket and exhaust air are hot, so avoid touching hot surfaces or putting the basket on an unsuitable surface. Do not assign one fixed repositioning time to every food or assume that the model has an automatic reminder unless that feature is confirmed.
The window and light help you see changes in colour, but appearance alone does not establish readiness for every ingredient. Check the result in a way suited to the food. If part of the load is not ready, indiscriminately raising the temperature may only brown the surface further. Review the recipe conditions, piece size and layout first.
SAF-1880S tutorial and planning the next batch
Watch the tutorial for this exact model below. Match its control and stopping sequence to your appliance version and the product instructions. A time and temperature shown for one example are not a recipe for every food.
At the end, note the quantity, chosen settings and result in a few words. Start the next comparison with the same quantity and make a deliberate adjustment. After unplugging and cooling, clean the basket with tools and detergent permitted for its non-stick coating. Do not let residue from the previous session become another uncontrolled factor.
