To choose between a hand blender and a jug blender, consider the container you normally use and the quantity you prepare. An immersion attachment and a fixed jug involve different routines, while accessories vary between models. This comparison helps you choose according to everyday tasks and storage space.

What difference does the processing container make?

A hand blender's attachment goes into an approved container, whose shape and depth affect control. With a jug blender, ingredients go into the appliance's own jug and must remain within its fill limits. For both types, check the manual for permitted ingredients and temperatures.

If you prepare small batches, check the minimum quantity needed for effective operation. For larger batches, do not treat nominal capacity as the permitted processing load. Ingredient thickness, space for circulation, and recipe conditions all affect your choice.

Check each model's features separately

The SHB-524S is described with speed control, turbo, stainless steel components, and a chopper function. The SHB-980S lists four functions—chopping, whisking, grinding, and hand blending—and a 1.2-litre chopper with two blades. Confirm each attachment and container in the exact model's included-items list.

Managing splashes and speed

Position the attachment and container as instructed and begin with an approved setting. Change speed or remove the attachment only as recommended to control splashing. Keep hands and other utensils away from the blade's path, and stop all movement before repositioning ingredients.

With a jug blender, the lid and locks must also be fitted correctly. For thick, dry, or hot ingredients, follow only the method permitted for that exact model. Power or component material alone does not authorise every task.

Account for cleaning and storage space

Identify how many parts you will use for your usual recipes. A removable attachment or container is useful when its washing and drying method is clear and convenient. Do not immerse the motor housing in water. For detailed jug-selection criteria, see the blender buying guide; to explore immersion attachments, browse hand blenders.

Check specifications and included accessories on the model's page. For operation and limitations, read the manual for that product.

Frequently asked questions

No. Container dimensions, material, depth, and ingredient quantity must comply with the model's instructions. Avoid contact between the attachment and the base or sides that could cause damage.

No. The SHB-980S lists chopping, whisking, grinding, and hand blending. Confirm the included items for each model separately.

Check the temperature limits and processing method in the appliance and container instructions. Do not assume high-temperature use is permitted simply because a component is stainless steel or glass.
